Announcing Selected Artists for 2022 Edition
We’re proud to announce the results of Atlanticx’ call for artists for Winter School 2022. We received first level applications from around 15 countries, and after a careful and difficult process, the jury decided to select 14 artists from different disciplines, trajectories, and aesthetics to collaborate with our cohort of composers during the special summer edition of Winter School in New York (August 2022). We want to congratulate all applicants for the beautiful works they’ve sent to us, and to transmit our enthusiasm when looking at the future we’re building in New Opera.

Fundación Williams and Festival Nueva Ópera Buenos Aires (FNOBA) jointly announce the fourth open call for emerging interdisciplinary artists innovating in the field of new opera.

About
Applications are now closed for the post-covid (!) (*summer* edition) of Winter School, a week-long intensive seminar, discovery workshop and project incubator for co-creative artistic processes.
Artists up to 45 years of age and from all the visual and scenic/performing disciplines interested in new opera are invited to work in collaboration with some of the most talented young composers from Latin American and a staff of guest professors that includes Suzanne Farrin, Marina Rosenfeld, Alphonse Cemin, Ben Piekut, Faye Driscoll, Tomás Gueglio, Fernando Fiszbein, Natacha Diels and Sebastián Zubieta as well as Ensamble 2e2m (France, in residency).
This special edition will take place in New York City, with classes, concerts, presentations and workshops at Hunter College and Americas Society (As/Coas).

The Program
Selected applicants will work in pairs with a young composer from Latin America in the development of a new co-creative work; they will also receive mentoring accompanying this process from guest professors in Winter School.
In all the program will have five components distributed across the duration of the week: discovery, lectures, co-creation workshops, masterclasses and concerts by resident “Ensamble 2e2m” (France).
The interested projects resulting from the co-creation component of the seminar will be invited to submit a dossier for competitive inclusion in the 2023 “Residency program” of Festival Nueva Opera with sights at premiering a full production in 2024.

Application Requirements
Artists from all disciplines in the performing, visual and new-media arts are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in visual artists working in every format (installation, video, new media, etc.) as well as creators of all performing arts apart from music (dramaturgists, choreographists, performance artists, etc.). NB: if you feel your work doesn’t fit exactly in these categories, we’re also interested.
Applications are online only, via our website. To apply, please submit a brief resume that contains your educational background and professional experience, a selected list of works, a portfolio (video, image, etc.), showing exhibition(s) and/or performance(s) of work(s), and a letter of intent explaining your interest in new opera, collaborative creation and inter/trans-disciplinary processes.
English fluency is mandatory to participate in Winter School. Experience in co-creation with other disciplines or in the field of new opera is highly valued.
Important: Winter School will not be involved in visa procedures, being the responsibility of those selected to ensure their own entry to the United States.
In the application, artists must express agreement with the bases and conditions expressed herein. This includes declaring full availability for Winter School activities, which will run everyday, from morning to night between August 1-7, 2022.
Program cost and scholarships
Tuition: U$S 500
Winter School doesn’t cover accommodation, travel expenses or the issuance of the necessary documentation to enter the USA.
